Sudz- November

November is all about preparing for cooler weather

As we turned our clocks back, I couldn’t help but shiver in anticipation of the cooler weather that is headed our way.. and I know I’m not alone in that.

Whether you love winter or despise it, one thing is for sure- being prepared is key. This month (our FIRST month on Beehiiv!) I am sharing a few “Winter Ready” hacks that you can prep NOW to save your skin and your household this snowy season.

What you’ll find in this month’s Newsletter: A winter staple: Hydrate Body Butter (and an exclusive discount code for YOU) , a simple make-ahead Fire Cider to help you kick Cold + Flu season to the curb and a DIY Gift Idea that’s friendly on the budget.

Fire Cider- So what is it? Fire Cider is a jar of digestive happy immune boosting juice that get’s me through every winter season. It’s so packed full of immune helping ingredients that even despite me working with the public all day long- I rarely, if ever get sick. You can swap out and tailor ingredients to your own needs and only the process really needs to be followed. Ofcourse, always check the ingredients for allergies or medication triggers (for example: if you are on a medication that advises you not to have Grapefruit- don’t use grapefruit in your Fire Cider).

My Ingredients: Ginger, Garlic, Onion, Cayenne Pepper (adjust for your spice level), Orange, Lemon, Peppercorns, Cinnamon Sticks, Rosemary, Thyme, Honey, Sage, Cranberries, Jalapeno Peppers (**spice**) and raw, organic Apple Cider Vinegar (with the Mother).* remove pepper seeds to reduce heat

To make it: grab a clean and dry glass jar with a lid- aim for a Quart sized jar. Dice up 1 large lemon, 1 orange, ½ cup of ginger, 1 cayenne pepper, 1 jalapeno, add a razzle dazzle of rosemary, thyme, peppercorns and sage, sprinkle some cranberries and toss in 2 cinnamon sticks. (don’t worry about the honey,honey- we will do that later!) Cover the mixture with Apple Cider Vinegar, making sure all the ingredients are covered. Now, ACV and metal lids are not friends, so line your lid with parchment paper before twisting it on. Don’t forget to give it a good shake. Now, for the next 3 weeks, do nothing but give a love shake everyday, then leave it alone. After 3 weeks you will strain your concoction into a cheesecloth and place into a medium sized bowl. Let it sit to allow all that goodness to drip out. Add 1 cup of raw honey to the liquid mixture. Then store your liquid gold in a glass jar in the refrigerator for 6 months!

To use it: I take a shot of this every morning the second i hear someone sneeze. It has some kick to it so some prefer to dilute it with a glass of water, or use it in a tea. I found the first few days had zing but after that I got adjusted to it and now it hardly fazes me. The benefits far outweigh the short zing of the tongue. Enjoy!!

DIY Budget Friendly Gift Idea

This budget friendly gift is not only easy on the wallet, but it’s even easier on the eyes! Create beautiful simmer pots or potpourri for the holidays by combining your favourite combos. Simply dry all ingredients (low and slow, 200 degrees in the oven for 4-6 hours or until dry) or use a dehydrator. Think Orange slices, cranberries, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, allspice, rosemary, star anise. The only ingredients above that will need drying in the oven are sliced oranges, cranberries, and rosemary if you buy it fresh. You can likely find most of this at your local Bulk Barn already dried, too! Simply fill small paper mylar bags or small glass jars and even add a holiday gift tag. For packaging or ingredients you can check out my Amazon list here if you’d like.

Hydrate Body Butter- I could not be more excited for this Body Butter to launch! I’m hopeful to have labels in by mid November- countdown is ON! I desperately worked to formulate a body butter that moisturized deeply, while not leaving skin greasy. I liked how lotion absorbed into the skin, but hated how short it lasted.. whereas Body Butter was thick and seemed to hydrate well, but my skin felt almost slippery and I didn’t like that it didn’t fully absorb. Finally, after months of trial and error, I created the perfect Body Butter. It’s a water free formula, that absorbs quickly- leaving skin supple yet a powdery soft finish. It comes in an 8oz jar and is perfect for applying after the shower, or after shaving- or really whenever skin needs a boost of hydration. It has a soft minty smell from essential oils but is not overpowering. For all of our subscribers, use code: SUDZBB to save $5 on your first jar! Keep an eye on our Instagram stories for launch mid November!

As we move toward the holidays, I am here to help with all your holiday needs. Need teacher gifts? Daycare gifts? Gifts for Mom or Bestie?! No problem- i got you! Not sure where to begin? Send me a DM and let me take the mental load off of you.

On a more personal note, THANKYOU for subscribing. Sudz is such a passion and joy for me and I love sharing things that have helped me, with others that I care about (aka, YOU!). I hope to grow this little spot into an email that you look forward to reading or referencing back to. Something that brings you a laugh, a bit of connection, and something that helps you on your self-love journey.

Have questions or comments? Please let me know!

Already looking forward to December!
